JUNE 4, 2014 - 9:00 AM to JUNE 7, 2014 - 5:00 PM ET

Buffalo, NY

Explore new and innovative work being done to create healthy and happy communities at this training - CNU22: The Resilient Community - sponsored by the Congress for the New Urbanism. Participants will have opportunities for networking, collaboration and education, plus opportunities to learn about new initiatives to transform communities through development and public policies. Trainers will go over architecture techniques, sustainability, parking and transportation, resilient planning, walkability, waterfronts, creating urban villages and more.  Plenaries will focus on city planning and reconciling people, places and traffic. Breakout sessions and luncheons will look closely at improving livability through small-scale improvements and explore the smartest and most sustainable investments.

City Making, or ‘tactical urbanism,’ allows different groups to test concepts before making long-term political or financial plans.  Participants at this training will learn how to rethink the typical project process and consider new ways to start up initiatives, methods for developing ideas, funding options, and implementation and evaluation strategies. The program will feature designers, developers, planners, architects and other advocates for walkable and mixed-use neighborhoods.
