Comeback Communities

JUNE 18, 2015 - 8:00 AM to JUNE 19, 2015 - 5:00 PM CT

New Orleans, LA

This year, NeighborWorks America is launching a program designed to identify, explore, celebrate and nurture the essential ingredients of strong, resilient communities – from engaged residents; to innovative entrepreneurs; to committed, mission-driven nonprofits. Comeback begins when these “neighbors” align around a shared vision for their unique local environment.

On June 18, a Summit will be held with approximately 200 individuals from across the nation – nonprofit professionals, businesspeople, government officials, philanthropists and resident leaders – to hold a national conversation about what works and what doesn't to re-build and sustain healthy communities. Topics will include attracting and nurturing economic development, reviving and sustaining a rich cultural life, developing a reputation for responsive, inclusive public services, and enhancing health through a supportive environment.  This will be followed by a series of mobile workshops, and a day of volunteerism and community service within neighborhoods throughout New Orleans.
