Forum to Help Seniors At Risk of Foreclosure

The groundbreaking study on the mortgage crisis and how it has affected Americans 50 years and older - released by the AARP Public Policy Institute - will be the focus of the upcoming Solutions Forum titled The Foreclosure Crisis - Ending the Nightmare for Older Americans. The report analyzes nationwide delinquency and foreclosure trends over the past five years and shows the overall impact on older Americans across race/ethnicity and income brackets.

Jane Bryant Quinn - financial columnist and author - will moderate the panel that will explore methods of resolving the crisis including mortgage modification, mediation and principal reduction options, plus speakers will look at the steps taken by the federal and state governments to address the crisis. Speakers include:

  • Janice Bowdler, Director of Wealth-Building Project, National Council of La Raza
  • James Carr, Chief Business Officer, National Community Reinvestment Coalition
  • Melanca Clark, Senior Counsel, Access to Justice Initiative, US Department of Justice
