Free Afternoon Workshop: Best Practices and Lessons Learned from NSP

MAY 8, 2012 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM CT

New Orleans NeighborWorks Training Institute: La Galerie 3, Second Floor, New Orleans Marriott

Join the NeighborWorks Stable Communities Initiative to explore the key lessons from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and to discuss how these best practices might inform your neighborhood revitalization efforts.

NSP has been a core funding source for local community stabilization efforts. Since 2008, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has administered three rounds of NSP funding, providing more than $6 billion to aid in the purchase of foreclosed and abandoned homes. Grant recipients, including several NeighborWorks organizations, have used NSP funds to rehabilitate these homes in order to stabilize neighborhoods. During the workshop, NSP grantees will share best practices from their multi-year efforts to revitalize their communities. They will also comment on their successes and challenges in using NSP to leverage additional resources for comprehensive stabilization strategies.
