Strategic Planning for Walkable Communities
NOVEMBER 14, 2013 - 8:00 AM to NOVEMBER 16, 2013 - 5:00 PM ET
For the past decade, walkable urban places, or “WalkUPs,” have been gaining in popularity but in recent years this concept has become more than just an idea, it is one of the most important strategic planning initiatives guiding real estate and economic decisions today. As suburban, car-dependent markets become less attractive, the demand for walkable, sustainable neighborhoods is on the rise.
This four-day education program -- Certificate in Walkable Urban Development and Place-Based Strategic Planning -- is for real estate professionals, developers, city planners and others involved in place-based management. Participants will take a look at urban landscapes already achieving walkability and learn ideas for smart growth and sustainable development. Leaders will share sustainable development and walkable strategies that can be applied to any urban setting and provide planning methods that have proven successful.
