Using the Arts to Revitalize Cities

APRIL 10, 2013 - 6:30 PM to APRIL 10, 2013 - 8:00 PM ET

National Building Museum, Washington, DC

Arts and culture can be great tools for attracting new residents, and can be especially helpful for areas looking to reinvent themselves.  Cities that place an emphasis on the arts can promote themselves as cultural hubs, which is attractive to artists and others who appreciate living in a place of creative culture. This program will take a look at small and medium-sized cities that are using existing resources – such as old, unused buildings – to create and promote art and culture and draw visitors as well as new residents.

Program panelists include:

  • Kevin McMahon from Pittsburgh Cultural Trust
  • Gina Reichert from Powerhouse Productions (Detroit)
  • Joseph Biondo from Spillman Farmer Architects
  • Candace Damon from HR&A Advisors
