Using Impact Investing to Support Affordable Housing

FEBRUARY 12, 2014 - 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM ET

Washington, DC

Funds to support affordable housing are hard to find in Washington, D.C., especially after funding cuts from the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Foundations. This event -- Using Impact Investing to Support Affordable Housing, sponsored by the Aspen Institute -- will provide answers to questions about how to respond to this loss of funding. The training session will examine impact investing and explore how it can increase philanthropy and provide support to affordable housing programs.

A panel of national experts will present information on ways to structure investments so they provide maximum gain with minimal risk. They’ll share challenges and success stories related to their own investment programs, as well as lessons learned. Michael Bodaken from the National Housing Trust will be the training moderator. Special guests include:

  • Lori Chatman from Enterprise Community Loan fund
  • Allison Clark from the John D and Chatherine T. MacArthur Foundation
  • Warren Hanson from the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund
  • Vivian Vasallo from AARP Foundation
