Workshop: Creating a Brand for Your Community
DECEMBER 10, 2012 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM ET
NeighborWorks Training Institute – Washington, DC Grant Hyatt – 1000 H Street, NW Constitution E, Constitution Level (3B)
Join the NeighborWorks America Stable Communities Initiative to learn how a strong brand can advance your community stabilization efforts!
Branding offers an opportunity to create a verbal and visual identity, instill pride in residents, and increase positive perceptions of your community. It can also contribute to community stabilization goals by attracting new homeowners, businesses and investments and by encouraging residents to help deliver on the promised brand experience. During this workshop, John Kelsh, Principal with Great Destination Strategies, a Seattle-based branding and marketing firm, will discuss the core components of successful community brands. John will also reflect on his recent work in creating brand platforms for downtown Great Falls, Montana, and South Tucson, Arizona, to suggest ways that local nonprofits can draw on their communities’ strengths to develop credible, consistent and compelling marketing messages. This workshop is free and open to the public.
