Home Maintenance and Investment Decisions

This report looks at home maintenance and investment research, and compares investment data from the American Housing Survey with household data from the Consumer Expenditure Survey. The data examines home maintenance trends and decisions and considers microeconomic determinants affecting decisions. The two surveys have different designs, making the comparison difficult. However, combining the data creates a closer look at the work being done in addition to expenditures and the projects that consumers have invested in during certain time periods. The report also highlights the factors that impact maintenance decisions such as interest rates and income.  Read the report
